To write a news article you should first thoroughly research the topic and gather all relevant information. This will allow you to develop a clear and concise article that includes all the essential facts. The next step is to write your lead – this is the first paragraph of the article and should clearly, but briefly, state what your news story is about. The lead is often referred to as the “thesis statement” in academic writing and it will be used to draw your readers in and help them decide whether or not to continue reading.
After the lead you should then add all the important details that relate to your lead. This will give your reader a full understanding of what’s going on and why it’s worth their time to read the rest of the story.
Finally, make sure to include a compelling conclusion. The conclusion will either be a restatement of the lead or it will indicate potential future developments that may be related to your news story.
