The Joy of Riding a Motorcycle

A motorcycle is a two-wheeled vehicle that is powered by an internal-combustion engine. It has a steel frame, a seat and handlebars for the rider to sit on, and two tires. A headlight, taillight, turn signals and horn are often used for safety. Many motorcycles also have a windshield for protection against the elements.

Riding a motorcycle requires a special mindset and technique. You must be calmly, even coldly focused on the road ahead of you and unattached to thoughts of danger and death. It is a performance, not just a ride.

There is a large market for small-capacity motorcycles. These motorcycles are usually less than 250 cc and are designed to be more economical than cars. They can nimbly navigate traffic and save on fuel costs and maintenance costs. Several manufacturers produce these models, with Hero MotoCorp being the largest producer of small-capacity motorcycles worldwide.

Inventors first started to put engines on bicycles in the 1800s, but it wasn’t until around the turn of the century that production motorcycle companies began to emerge. The now-forgotten firms of Hildebrand & Wolfmuller, Germany’s Royal Enfield and Triumph, and the Harley-Davidson company in the US all began to make early motorcycles around this time.

Aside from saving money on gas, motorcyclists also enjoy the exhilarating feeling of speed and freedom that comes with riding a bike. Studies have shown that riding a motorcycle can reduce stress levels and promote relaxation. Just be sure to wear a helmet! And don’t drink and ride. Alcohol and drugs affect your judgment, balance, throttle control and ability to shift gears.
